Stewed Beef
Serves 8
     1. Heat the oil in a saucepan until steam rises and the oil is  hot.  Add the
         sugar and stir until brown under a medium flame.
     2. Carefully add the beef to the saucepan. Brown on all sides on high heat.
         Add enough water to just cover the beef.
     3. Add the garlic powder, hot pepper, salt and black pepper. Stir and
         carefully transfer the beef stew to an oven proof baking dish.
     4. Cover and bake in a preheated 350ºF oven for 5-6 hours. Continue
         adding water through out the cooking process. You want at least
         ¼ left for gravy. Serve over a bed of rice and vegetable medley
         along with the juices. Serve with the rice.
