3 Tablespoons cornstarch
mixed in 5 tablespoons water
Salt and freshly ground
black pepper

In a medium sauce pan, add the water, beef broth, carrots, beef,
celery, onion, garlic, parsley, salt, black pepper, bay leaf and
tomato sauce. Bring to a boil and simmer covered for ½ hour.
2. Add
the potatoes and simmer uncovered for 30 minutes. Add the
cornstarch and water and stir. Simmer until thickened.
